10 PR1MA sites for Penang
GEORGE TOWN: The Government has identified 10 locations here for its Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (PR1MA) affordable urban housing programme.
PR1MA Berhad’s chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias said the residential units would be built in Bukit Gelugor next year.
He said the “secure, 30-storey lifestyle condominiums” would be built on three plots of land measuring a total of 8ha as part of a mixed development project.
He said that PR1MA would adhere strictly to the local council’s density and plot ratio.
Due to land scarcity, the new planning features will include sky gardens.
“Some 20% of the leasehold project will comprise commercial units.
“This is a very nice area it will be the Bangsar of Penang.
“The surrounding projects are priced between RM520 and RM600 per sq ft PR1MA homes will definitely cost much less but let’s wait for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to announce the price and details,” he said here yesterday.
Nine other project sites have been identified on the island and mainland pending a final decision from the Government.
“We are only looking at Federal Government-owned land here as well as plots owned by Perda and JKP Sdn Bhd.
“Some projects on the mainland may even be landed property,” he said.
He said PR1MA was unique because it is both a quasi-regulator and a developer.
PR1MA information and communications technology vice-president Noorul Amilin Mohd Daud said some 2.5 million Malaysians are expected to participate in the online registration for the 80,000 PR1MA homes to be built in 50 cities and towns nationwide once launched by Najib here today.
Abdul Mutalib said everything would be done online, including the submission of documents.

Rumah Mesra Rakyat 1Malaysia (RMR1M)
People-Friendly Home is now known as the 1Malaysia People-Friendly Home (RMR1M), and the government has agreed that a household income of up to a maximum of RM3,000 would be eligible to apply for the RMR1M compared with RM1,500 previously.
The Prime Minister said he had also set a target for the Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) to build 10,000 units of the RMR1M this year.
Eligibility of RMR1M / Syarat-Syarat Kelayakan Program RMR1M
- Malaysian citizen
- Age between 18 – 65 year old.
- Married or single mother/father
- Household income RM3000 & below
- Doesn’t own any house
RMR1M application form for the could be downloaded at all the offices of the elected representatives via online to facilitate applicants in obtaining the forms and finding out the status of their applications. All 1Malaysia People-Friendly Homes (RMR1M) will be built using the ‘Industrialised Building System’ (IBS) technology with a larger built-up area without incurring additional cost to the applicants
The RMR1M construction is based on the concept of three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a built-up area of 1,000 sq ft and adhering to the specifications of the local authorities and the ‘Malaysian Uniform Buiding By-laws.

PR1MA projects in Cyberjaya
Cyberview is among the developers involved in Phase One of the Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (PR1MA) programme that was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in July.
During the recent press conference, Cyberjaya will offers 794 affordably priced apartment units would be offered to the lower-income group under the 1Malaysia Housing Programme (PR1MA).
The PR1MA project will have its kick off sometime next year and currently in the midst of getting necessary approval from the authority.
Currently, an average 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment sells for around RM300,000 in the area. The units would be priced way below the market rate, but the amount would be determined by PR1MA.
With three universities and scores of multinational corporations offices, Cyberjaya is popular with students and foreign expatriates.ne, mostly for residential purposes.

Projek Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (PR1MA)
The 1Malaysia Housing Programme (PR1MA) (Projek Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia) was officially launched by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on 4 July 2011.
The programme aim to assist the middle income group who can neither afford to buy high-end property nor are eligible for existing My First Home Scheme and others low-cost public housing scheme to own a home.
Middle income group are those who earn not more than RM6,000 per month regardless whether they work with the government, the private sector or self-employed.
To ensure succes, the programme will be plan and coordinate by the newly established 1Malaysia Housing Programme Corporation, and placed under the Prime Minister’s Department. The corporation would also distribute houses under the projects to eligible recipients.
Based on plans, 42,000 houses will be built on 20 strategic sites Klang Valley, Rawang and Seremban. For year 2011 & 2012, 8 projects will kick off.
The Developer for all these projects are Putrajaya Holdings, SP Setia, Tradewinds, Cyberview, Sime Darby Property, MRCB Resources and 1MDB
In order to prevent speculative activities, all house under this programme are not allowed to sell within 10 years. Besides that, all units are for own occupation and not for RENT. occupation
